National Ocean Policy Implementation Report Released
The White House released its first report on the implementation of the National Ocean Policy last week, showing the progress made since the 2010 policy was created by President Obama.
From the report:
“To date, the Federal agencies have made tremendous progress toward improving the economic and ecological sustainability and health of our ocean, bolstering safety and security, and gaining insights on how the ocean influences and is influenced by human activity. Agencies have completed or are making excellent progress on 77 percent of the Implementation Plan actions…”

Journey to one of the richest ecosystems in North America in Green Fire’s latest film, The Great Bear Sea: Reflecting on the Past—Planning for the Future, due to be released in late spring. Home to First Nations for thousands of years, this region faces intense and competing development pressures. Uncertainty and potential for conflict abound.
In The Great Bear Sea, you’ll meet the people along the British Columbia coast who developed a shared vision for a new path forward–one of partnership and cooperation–and then turned this vision into marine plans that mesh ecological integrity with human well-being for generations to come. Watch the trailer!
After last year’s successful run of PBS broadcasts—airing in media markets that reach more than 80% of US households—we are delighted to announce that Ocean Frontiers: The Dawn of a New Era in Ocean Stewardship is back on PBS this spring in selected cities.
